Lanternfish is a device designed to obtain precise measurements of sky brightness in MPSAS, record data autonomously, and allow easy access from any device via Wi-Fi.
Unlike traditional sky quality meters that require choosing between different models and features, Lanternfish integrates all key functions into a single device.
No versions. No add-ons. No compromises.
Features:
- Compact flashlight-style design for quick and direct sky measurements
- Measurement of sky brightness in MPSAS
- FoV 18º
- Automatic data logging with date and time
- Wi-Fi access via integrated web server
- Data export in CSV format
- Adjustable measurement modes to suit different uses
- Programmable automatic shutdown
- OLED display for direct visualization
- Rechargeable battery with autonomy lasting several nights (depending on the selected mode)
How to use
Point Lanternfish at the sky and take a reading either instantly or using a programmed mode.
The device automatically records data and allows access via its integrated web interface over Wi-Fi. Data can also be exported in CSV format.
By selecting the Lanternfish with Bracket option, you can mount the Lanternfish directly on your telescope’s finder bracket, keeping it pointed at the same area of the sky as the optical tube. Its 18° field of view makes it easy to monitor sky conditions in the region being observed without requiring precise alignment.
Operating modes
Lanternfish offers different measurement modes depending on the intended use, from quick individual readings to autonomous operation with configurable intervals.
It can be used for immediate measurements or left running overnight, recording data automatically according to the selected configuration.
Frequently asked questions
Is it necessary to be connected to Wi-Fi during measurement?
No. Lanternfish can operate autonomously and record data. Wi-Fi is only required to access the information and configure the device. This can be done by connecting to the Lanternfish through an external network, or by accessing it with a device connected to the Lanternfish’s own access point.
How long does the battery last?
Battery life depends on the selected mode and configuration, but under normal conditions it can operate for several nights.
How is data accessed?
Lanternfish includes a web server accessible via Wi-Fi from any device. Data can be viewed directly or exported in CSV format.
